VALUING DIVERSITY

Learning Objectives:
  1. To better understand cultural differences and incorporate that knowledge into how the student is received.

  2. To utilize and incorporate the learned knowledge into effective communication and treatment of those with different cultural and ethnic backgrounds.

  3. To begin to accept and appreciate the cultural differences of a diverse society.

Module 1:
Post-module Activity:

Throughout your day try talking to people you may associate with but don't know well. The goal is to find out one non-physical thing that is similar and one non-physical thing that is different from you and that person. As you meet more people, write down the name of each new person and the similarity and difference they have with you. Please try to get to at least 10 people.

This activity can help us process though the impression we may have that we are different. There are commonalities that unite us as well.
